New blog
Friday, February 6, 2009
Recently I had to go to a local brewery for an assignment for the paper I work at. When I got there I was disappointed to find out that they were not brewing that day and would not be for a couple of weeks. So I had to figure something out for lead art. So I had the brew master stand in front of this pile of kegs. The room was real dark with only a little fluorescent light. So I dropped the ambient light by a stop and lit it with a hand held strobe high at camera right and I was able to get a pretty great portrait of the guy. This image is up on my blog at www.zacharystephens.net/blog where I have challenged myself to post a new image everyday for the next year. I have not missed a day yet and I have been going since Jan. 1. Check it out and leave comments.

Hallmark Assistants
Wednesday, April 23, 2008
On Saturday, I had the pleasure of working with two current Hallmark students: Liesl & Gabriel. We did three separate on-location sessions and they did a fantastic job - keeping everything running smoothly, watching gear and holding various reflectors and flags in almost gale force winds (OK - maybe just really gusty - but you get the idea). Here are a few shots from what I've gone through so far - and best of luck to the current class with Phase IV.

Portrait Session
Wednesday, February 20, 2008
Been trying to think outside the box with my editing lately and think I found something I like. Little bit of G. Blur (yes 07, still using it ;) ) , little bit of sharpening, and some Hue/Sat. I think I like it for low key "B/W" style but still working on the process a little bit more. Would love to hear what you think!

Just had portrait studio today, this is the best image I churned out. I am really pleased with it. But should I crop it differently? Or do anything else different? Thanks!
