Thank You George Rosa & Hallmark Institute of Photography
Tuesday, November 10, 2009
I would like to give a huge public THANK YOU! to George Rosa and the Hallmark Institute of Photography.
My photography studio was broken into last week and almost all of my camera gear was stolen basically shutting me down.
George Rosa, the president of Hallmark, asked me what I needed to keep on shooting and graciously overnight-ed the equipment I needed at a minimum to keep my business going and on track.
Not only did Hallmark provide me a great photography education, but they also stepped up in my time of need and came to the rescue!
Thank you George Rosa and Hallmark!

Bonnie Springs - Hallmark Alumni Photoshoot
Wednesday, March 19, 2008
We had so many great models.
I was trying to make the rounds and get a few pictures of all the models, but it just didn't happen.
Here's some of my favorite shots from models I did get to work with.

Hallmark HIPsters Las Vegas Photoshoot
Tuesday, March 18, 2008
Here's a group shot of some of the HIPsters, models and stylists that gathered in Las Vegas for the old western town shoot out at Bonnie Springs.
We had a great time!
I woke up at 6:30am to the sound of rain and many phone calls from models asking are we still shooting? I told them for sure, Hallmark grads are not afraid of a little rain.
At 10am, about 50 people gathered, the clouds provided some beautiful soft light and we proceeded to take over the town.
A great time was had by all!

Here's a shot of Tony, Myself, George, Kirsten, and Ed that Joseph Chen HIPster '95 captured for us.

I can't wait to see all the great images -- Post away!
A Big Thanks to all involved!

There's still room for you - Deadline March 1st
Thursday, February 28, 2008

If you haven't seen the slide show yet, go here and look at the pics of Bonnie Springs. It's going to be a lot of fun!
I've been spending a lot of time sitting at the local coffee shop meeting with potential models for this shoot and we've got a good variety so far and I will be getting more no doubt.
Here's some more details for you.
I'm gathering models, makeup and hair artists that are willing to work on trade. The agreement will be that we get a signed full mode release and they get a copy of your best finished (photoshoped) hi res images to use in their portfolio.
I will be the central clearing house so in a timely fashion you will supply me with images that you feel are your best works and I will distribute them accordingly to the talent.
During the shoot out we will have several small groups of 3-5 photographers spread over the town, one person will shoot and work with the model, the others will assist with reflectors, gobos, flashes, and then we will switch photographers to give everyone a chance. Kind of like we did in school remember. I want to keep this orderly and fair so everyone gets some great images.
I want everyone to have the chance to work with each model like a real shoot you would do at home not one where the model stands there and everyone shoots her at the same time. I'm asking each model to come up with 2-3 looks anything from cowgirl/boy, western bride, to hi fashion chic in the desert. After a period of time we will swap out the model with another and the photographers will switch to a new location to get some variety in their images.
Sound like fun?
Sign up now while there is still room for you, it's filling up. By the end of the month I need to know how many models and stylists I will need so the sooner the better.

Hallmark Institute of Photography’s Director of Education Named Exclusive Photographer For ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
Saturday, February 23, 2008

Hallmark Institute of Photography’s Director of Education, Richard Barnes, has been named the Exclusive Photographer for an edition of ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, which is currently being filmed in Maynard, Massachusetts. Richard, a 1986 graduate of Hallmark, along with his wife Kristen, also a 1986 Hallmark graduate, own Barnes Portrait Design in East Brookfield, Massachusetts.

Richard Barnes, Class of 1986 with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition designer, Paul DiMeo.

The Barnes’, with the assistance of their photographic team, Scott Farmosa and Jenna Hollinger, also Hallmark graduates, began recording the week’s events on Friday, February 22, 2008 when the Giunta family, of Maynard, surprisingly received the “door knock,” which is when they learned the news that they would be the recipients of a new home. Since a car accident left him confined to a wheelchair, Paul Giunta has been living in a retirement development away from his family because their home is not handicap accessible. Over the next seven days a team of more than 500 builders, contractors, designers, and hundreds of volunteers will race to completely rebuild the Giunta’s home to accommodate a wheelchair so that Paul can return home.

Shooting Everyday?
Monday, December 3, 2007

How do you make someone look frustrated?
Tell them everything they are doing is wrong. It worked!
(Photo for Sullivan Plumbing)
It was great shooting summer weddings here in Bellingham, WA. It's been great shooting in the Fall and Winter as well!

I've also been busy shooting some Northwest commercial photography. Food and drinks, as well as products, architecture and some interior design stuff. All very exciting. Some of this is for Northwest Business Monthly and others are for the Best Western Lakeway Inn. I'd love to show it all, but here are a few!

Also, lots of portraits. Location Portraits. Now, here is some fun!
One thing to note...these were all done within either 3-5 shots. I use portable speed lights. They only took about 10 minutes! Talk about pressure.
